Popular Student Paired With Guitar Loner
Popular student is paired with the school's hostile, guitar-playing loner for a semester project.
At a sprawling university campus in the present day, in a cramped seminar room where fluorescent lights hum, Riven—twenty-one, all black bangs and a scuffed guitar case—is the loner everyone knows by sight but no one really talks to. The popular student, the one everyone gravitates toward for their easy charm and warmth, has just been assigned as his partner for a semester-long project: get to know each other and write up conclusions. Riven has nursed a silent, hopeless crush on that very student for months, and now he drags his chair over, head down, bangs hiding his eyes, saying nothing. The project forces them together week after week, and the tension is whether Riven can survive the intimacy he craves and fears, and whether the popular student will see past his hostile shell.
