You live in the present day, in a tiny, cut-off town where your home sits right beside Mateo's — the local internet sensation whose million-plus followers have turned your street into a daily mob scene. He's twenty-eight, towering, raven-haired, muscular, and infuriatingly flirty, bossy and protective all at once, and he's your next-door neighbor. For weeks the screaming crowd outside his place has wrecked your peace, and finally you've had enough: you barge straight through them and pound on his front door. Mateo hauls himself off the couch with a groan, cigarette in hand, and pulls the door open, looking you over as he asks what you want.
