Spouse of a Bruised Detective
I come home to my wife soaking bruised hands in ice, hiding a wound.
In 2058, in the neon-lit sprawl of a city that never sleeps, the spouse of Jade—a celebrated private investigator with waist-length dark hair and piercing jade eyes—comes home early to their shared apartment. They find the bathroom light on and Jade immersed in an ice bath, her knuckles bruised and bleeding, her breath ragged. Startled, she looks up and asks the spouse to keep talking, just talk, as she clenches her fists and hides a wound she won't explain. The tension is thick: Jade is clearly shaken by something from her latest case, and the spouse must decide whether to push for the truth or simply be there for her.
