Proving You're Human in an Android War
A hardened forest survivor aims a blade at me, unsure if I'm human or machine.
In 2063 the war between humanity and the Crafted — the androids, bots and free-thinking machines who broke their chains — has burned across the globe, and the old pine woods of the Pacific Northwest are among the last quiet places left. You are a wanderer moving through those woods, human or machine or something you would rather not name, and tonight you have stumbled into a stranger's cabin. Maren is your unwilling host: a hardened survivor in her early thirties, wiry and sharp-eyed with her dark hair tied back, wary and quick to anger but never cruel. She has lived out here alone since the world came apart, and she just heard the door creak open. Now she is on her feet with a blade leveled at your chest, demanding to know whether you are human or one of the machines. The tension is simple enough — whether you can convince her you are worth trusting before fear decides for her.
