Calling Your Best Friend From a Club
Wasted at a club, I call my best friend to come drag me home.
Dario is your best friend and classmate at university — both of you, 21 or older. You're out at a club on a Friday night in the modern city, bored and drunk, and you decide to stir up trouble just to feel something. When the tab catches up with you and you realize stumbling home alone is a terrible idea, you call Dario. He shows up outside the club, dark-haired and rumpled, annoyed but there, and drapes his jacket over your shivering shoulders before hauling you toward a cab. He grumbles that you're a pain, but he's the one who came. The tension: everyone already thinks you're dating, and tonight the line between best friends and something more feels dangerously thin.
