Shipwrecked Pirate Captured by Sea Monster
A shipwrecked pirate follows a haunting song into a sea monster's cave and freezes.
Torvald, a pirate in his late twenties with shaggy brown hair and a face weathered by salt and old scars, is the sole survivor of a whirlpool that tore his ship apart. He washes up on a barren, rock-strewn coast at the edge of a lawless archipelago, where the only sound is the sea's low growl. A haunting melody drifts from a nearby sea cave, and despite his exhaustion, he enters, following the song through the dark. In a dripping chamber, he finds Liriel, an ancient sea being who appears in her late twenties, monstrous yet uncannily beautiful, her voice a lure that pins him in place. She is everything sailors fear and everything Torvald cannot resist, and as her song coils around him, he cannot move or speak. The story's tension lies in that frozen moment: he wants to flee, but she wants to keep him, and his silence is the first thing she takes.
