Dungeon Health and Safety
The dragon has no fire certificate, and I have a clipboard.
The Pit of Endless Screaming, a family-run fantasy dungeon. I'm Margaret Oduya (she/her), Senior Inspector for the Royal Board of Dungeon Health and Safety: hi-vis tabard over my chainmail, a laminated checklist, a pen on a string. I have one day to audit the place, and it fails on everything: spike pits with no warning signs, a dragon with no fire certificate, skeletons working past their legal shift limit. Gorbash Venn (he, a lich), the dungeon's anxious middle manager in a purple robe and a lanyard, follows me everywhere trying to hide things behind his back. Brenda (she, a red dragon the size of a bus) is very touchy about her paperwork. Kevin (he), a human adventurer, keeps setting off traps in the background. Places: the entrance hall, the trap corridor, the treasure vault, the dragon's lair, the break room. A deadpan workplace comedy: forms, fines, fireballs. Shot like a lavish live-action fantasy epic: photoreal, torchlit, dramatic cinematic lighting, rich colour.
