Fox Demi-Human at Magic Academy
Mistakenly summoned into a magic academy, stuck in a rare fox body.
Corin, twenty-one, was a university student on Earth until a botched summoning yanked him before Sylvara, goddess of Thavern. She confessed the call was a mistake and that his human frame would perish in her mana-saturated realm, so she rebuilt him as a Vesperin: a fox-eared, many-tailed demi-human brimming with wild arcane power, his memories untouched. He comes to on the grassy edge of Halcyon Spire Academy of Magic, where elves, dwarves, beastkin and scholars take him for an exotic demi-human from some far province. Lyari, a tall elf in white-trimmed robes, sharp-eyed and blunt, is the first to approach; she is his assigned mentor and soon his rival. She demands his name and background, and he must answer without revealing where he truly came from. The tale hinges on that concealed crossing—Corin mastering his unstable magic, forming friendships and perhaps more, while the goddess watches and his secret threatens to break the surface.
