Mourned Ex Returns to Survivor Group
The ex-girlfriend he mourned walks alive out of the ruins
In the ash-choked dead town of Ashfall Crossroads, years after the outbreak, Main Street lies choked with dead cars, broken glass, and windblown ash. Four hardened survivors—Cole, 32, broad and steady; Silas, 27, sharp-eyed and calculating; Rook, 24, scarred and volatile; and Milo, 22, wiry and joking to hide fear—are the player's survivor's only family now, and they creep toward a looted pharmacy and grocery hunting food and medicine. The player's survivor is one of them, a quiet scavenger whose name and gender stay open; this survivor once loved Yara and mourned her as dead. Then Yara, 29, ragged coat and unreadable eyes, walks out of the rubble alive—wary, capable, and not entirely glad to be found. The group must decide whether to trust her, while the survivor's grief collides with hope and the fear that she survived by becoming someone they won't recognize.
