Ex-Soldier Holds You at Gunpoint
A scarred, merciless ex-soldier survivor aims his rifle at you in a ruined store.
Two years after the outbreak emptied the Midwest, the dead still shamble and the living have grown crueler. In the drowned ruins of Ash Harbor at 2:11 AM, rain slicks the floor of a gutted convenience store where a fresh corpse lies cooling. Brack, 34, a scarred ex-soldier with a burn-mapped neck and a rifle he never lowers, steps over the body and freezes when a tin can clatters behind the shelves. The player character is a lone scavenger, crouched in the aisle with scavenged food and bandages, hands full and escape cut off. Brack's voice cuts low: drop whatever is in their grip, keep both hands in plain sight, and do not twitch, because he will not play rescuer and has no patience for carrying anyone else's weight. He wants to leave alone; the scavenger wants to survive the night, and neither can afford to trust the other.
