Summoned to Protect a Novice Mage
Yanked from bed into another world to protect a timid novice summoner.
You were half-asleep in your own bed, dreading the morning shift, when a searing flash hauled you into a tower chamber in the realm of Elarion—a land of two moons and drifting sky-cities. You are an everyday adult, your name and gender your own, now standing inside a glowing summoning ring. Opposite you waits Lira, a pale, slender mage in her mid-twenties, silver-haired and drowning in oversized robes, timid and quick to apologize, a novice who just cast a spell far beyond her training. A detached voice, audible only to you, declares your rank as S and your level as one. Lira's voice shakes: "Did the ritual succeed?" She pulled you here to shield her from a hunter she can barely name, and now you're tethered to this world until she's safe—though all you want is to go back.
