Looking for an AI Dungeon alternative with pictures and voices?

AI Dungeon is one of the games that made AI storytelling popular. Slopverse takes a different road: every turn comes back as a scene with pictures, voices and music. Here is an honest look at both. 10 free scenes, about 10 minutes of film. No card.

What AI Dungeon is good at

AI Dungeon, made by Latitude, has been around since 2019. You play by typing actions with Do, Say and Story, and its See action makes an image of a moment when you ask for one. It has a large library of scenarios made by its community, a choice of AI models, tools such as story cards that help the AI remember your world, and a free tier alongside paid memberships. It runs on the web and has mobile apps.

If you love long, text-first sessions, community-made scenarios, or picking your own model, it is built for that.

What Slopverse does differently

In Slopverse the scene is the point. You type what your character does, and every turn comes back painted shot by shot, with each character speaking in their own voice, a narrator, captions and music that follows the mood. You never ask for a picture; every turn has them.

You can start from one of hundreds of premises, each with a painted cover, or type any world in a sentence. The default way to play is cinema mode, full screen like a film; a chat layout is a setting if you prefer reading.

Slopverse also has a stream mode, where a Twitch chat votes on the next move, and a 24/7 stream you can watch at slopverse.ai/live to see how it plays before signing up.

What Slopverse does not do

Being fair about it: Slopverse has no mobile app (it runs in the browser, built for a computer; phones work too), and you cannot pick the AI model. It has no community library of its own yet. It is for adults only (18+). Because every turn is painted, voiced and scored on rented graphics cards, a turn takes a moment and play after the free turns is a paid plan.

It is also brand new: one developer, Jonathan Larson, working with a crew of AI coding agents, and a handful of players so far.

Gameplay: the line the player typed appears over the scene it became (Nana Pilots the Giant Robot).

Which one to pick

They are different games for different moods. If you want a text adventure you can play for hours on your phone, with a deep community library, AI Dungeon is a good fit. If you want each move you make to come back as a voiced, painted scene, try Slopverse: your first turns are free, and nothing needs installing.
