AI Dungeon alternatives in one page, in their own words
If you are looking past AI Dungeon, the right pick depends on what you want more of: free play, a game master with rules, prose, worlds to build, or scenes with pictures and voices. Here is each option described in its own words, in alphabetical order. We make one of them, Slopverse, and say so where it appears. 10 free scenes, about 10 minutes of film. No card.

What they have in common
Each of these lets you type what your character does and has an AI continue the story. They differ in what comes back (text, illustrations, voices), in how much game structure sits around the story, and in what you can play for free. The notes below quote what each product says about itself; plans change, so check its own pages for the current details.

Friends & Fables
Its site: "Create & Play AI RPGs", with campaigns "run by our AI Game Master". Its pricing page lists a free tier of "Up to 25 turns per day", and text to speech on its paid plans.
Hidden Door
Its pricing page lists "Unlimited stories and turns" on the free plan, with "Play up to 5 worlds" from its catalog, and tools to "Create your own characters, items, and locations" and "Create your own worlds".
Infinite Worlds
Its site: "The AI game with unlimited freedom", adventures and stories "complete with illustrations", and "Create your own worlds - in minutes!"
NovelAI
Its site: "Write worlds that remember everything", with "an AI that writes with you". It also says it can "Generate original characters, scenes, and artwork in seconds", and that new users can try it "through our trial period".
Perchance AI RPG
Its own page title calls it a text adventure that is "free, unlimited, no sign-up", played in the browser.
Slopverse (ours)
Every turn comes back as a scene: painted shot by shot, every character voiced, the narration captioned, music that follows the mood. Built for a computer browser; phones work too. For adults (18+). 10 free scenes, about 10 minutes of film. No card. We make it, so weigh this entry accordingly.
For a side-by-side of AI Dungeon and Slopverse alone, with what Slopverse does not do, see the AI Dungeon alternative guide.
How to choose
If free, unlimited text play matters most, start with the free tiers above and read their limits on their own pricing pages. If you want rules and a game master running a campaign, or worlds you build and share, several of these are built around that. If you want each move you type to come back as a voiced, painted scene, that is what Slopverse is for.
What it costs
10 free scenes, about 10 minutes of film. No card. Plans from $10 a month: Starter $10 (100 turns), Plus $20 (225 turns), Director $50 (600 turns). Top-up: 50 turns for $6, never expire. A turn is one move you send. The current plans are on the pricing page.
Questions
Is AI Dungeon still around?
Yes. Its own site describes it as "a free AI text adventure game where players create open-ended stories".
Which of these has voices on every turn?
Slopverse voices every character on every turn. Friends & Fables lists text to speech on its paid plans. For the others, check their own pages.
Why is this list in alphabetical order?
Because it is not a ranking. Each product is described in its own words; we make Slopverse, so we do not score anyone.
Is Slopverse free?
10 free scenes, about 10 minutes of film. No card. After that there are monthly plans; see pricing.
