Twitch chat plays an AI story: a movie the audience directs

Slopverse runs live on Twitch around the clock. Chat votes on what happens next, and the game plays each winning move as a scene with painted pictures, voiced characters and music. 10 free scenes, about 10 minutes of film. No card.

Watch the 24/7 stream

The stream is at slopverse.ai/live, which goes to the Slopverse channel on Twitch. It is run by a small director program on a house account: it picks up a story, puts the next move to the chat, and plays whatever wins. Nobody needs to be at the keyboard, so the story keeps going at 3 am.

Every move the chat chooses comes back the same way a player's would: a new picture for what just happened, the characters speaking in their own voices, captions on screen and music that follows the mood.

How the chat steers the story

After each scene has played, the game's suggested next moves become a poll. Chat votes by typing !1, !2 or !3, or writes a move of its own with !move followed by the text. The winner is played as the next turn.

A twist can come from a channel-point redemption or a moderator's !twist, and it becomes the next move in place of that round's poll. A viewer can type !castme with a short description of a look, and the next poll offers to bring that character into the story by name.

Everything the chat sends is a move a player could have typed. It is cleaned up first (one line, no links, a length cap), and text that reads sexual or romantic is refused. On the 24/7 stream, where nobody is watching the chat at night, every viewer's text is also checked by a small AI read before it can become a move, and anything that cannot be checked is left out.

Run it on your own stream

Stream mode is part of the same game, not a separate one. A streamer can play Slopverse on their own channel with the same chat vote, twists and castme, and can veto the chat or type a move themselves at any time. Creator accounts are locked to stream-safe settings, so the game is safe to show on a broadcast.

The creator page explains how to set it up and what a creator account gets. Every scene also has its own short link, so a moment from a stream can be shared and played on from.

Honest notes

The channel is new and small, and the 24/7 stream is an experiment run by one developer. It can be down at times for updates. Pictures and voices take a moment to make, so the pace is closer to a story being told than to a fast arcade game.
