A SillyTavern alternative with pictures and voices built in

SillyTavern is the tool many people use for AI role-play. Slopverse is something else: a hosted game where the chat you write comes back as a scene, with pictures, voices and music already wired in. Here is what each one is for. 10 free scenes, about 10 minutes of film. No card.

What SillyTavern is good at

SillyTavern is a free, open-source chat interface (AGPL-3.0) that you install and run on your own computer with Node.js. It connects to many AI back ends, from OpenAI-compatible APIs to KoboldAI and the AI Horde, so you choose the model and where it runs. It is built around character cards, has World Info for lore, and has extensions for character sprites, image generation and text-to-speech that you configure yourself.

It calls itself a front end for power users, and that is fair: if you want full control over your prompts, your model, your cards and your data, it is built for exactly that.

What Slopverse does differently

Slopverse is a hosted game, so there is nothing to install, configure or connect. The heart of it will feel familiar: one AI writer, and the chat transcript is the story. What changes is what comes back. Every turn is painted shot by shot, each character speaks in a voice of their own with their lips moving, a narrator reads between them, and music follows the mood of the scene.

Worlds start from a sentence you type or from one of hundreds of premises with painted covers; the game sets the world up and casts it. The default view is cinema mode, full screen like a film, with a chat layout one setting away.

When SillyTavern is the better fit

If you want to run everything locally or offline, use your own model or API key, keep your own character card library, script the prompts, or pay nothing beyond your own API costs, SillyTavern does that and Slopverse does not. Slopverse has no model picker and no local install, and play after the free turns is a paid plan, because every turn is painted, voiced and scored on rented graphics cards.

When to try Slopverse

If you like the chat but want it to play like a film without wiring up image and voice extensions, Slopverse is built for that. It is for adults (18+); stories can be dark, violent or romantic at about the level of an R-rated film, and the pictures never show nudity.

It is new and small, made by one developer, Jonathan Larson, with a crew of AI coding agents. You can watch it play before signing up on the 24/7 stream at slopverse.ai/live.
